The last season was a bit disappointing. I missed my goal to get into the top 5 of the Division 7 in the IndyCar Oval Series and I couldn’t get faster in the GT3 cars. I lost 400 iRating in one week and it took a while to get it back. The beginning of the new season was also a little bit stressful. iRacing launched a new tire model shortly before the Sebring 12h wich rendered all setups useless and they did it again before the first race of the VLN as they patched it.
Also my break pedal of my Thrustmaster pedals broke 3 days before the Sebring 12h race so I had to get a new set of pedals as fast as possible. Luckily the Fanatec ClubSport V3 pedals arrived just in the nick of time and I was able to get used to them quite quickly. So at least I got a big improvement over this. I will write a review at a later time as I want to test them further and also install the Break Performance Kit.
So having the experience of the last season in mind I will do some things differently for Season 2. I will stick to my strengt and drive only open wheel cars. I will race in the IndyCar Oval fixed and the IndyCar open series. In addition I’ll drive the Formula Renault 2.0 series. I will drive sports cars only on the Nordschleife VLN series. There I started the first race with the AMG GT3 but will probably switch to the Porsche GT3 Cup for the next races and also for the 24h race.
This way I hopefully will have more fun as I drive cars that I’m comfortable with in the first place and also get better results and more iRating. I’m now at 1300 iR at Oval and 1200 at Road. Which should be the baseline if it goes down so no lower than these values.
First goal is to get to 2000, which I hopefully get this season but it isn’t a must. Getting better as a racer is more important than iRating. As I’m feeling more confident with my new pedals because I have more control over the break I’m sure that I will get there.
